Asteria: Fate of the Fallen is a fully-fledged, medieval-fantasy VRMMORPG developed by Damage Point Digital. It aims to bring players the immersive experience that MMOs in popular media (such as Sword Art Online) have inspired for decades. We specifically are trying to build a set of core gameplay loops that focus around doing; players can choose to be a blacksmith, a chef, or a farmer; Different than other MMOs, Asteria's core gameplay will not be solely locked to combat, dungeons, and the like.
While Asteria has not been released yet, I have already learned quite a lot from working on it. I have improved in my Sound Design as I have been mostly focussing on that. Additionally I have made the technologies to make the Sound Design actually function. A nice change and challenge compared to other projects I have done so far, was the real importance of being mindfull of performance; Since VR is already hard to run, and an MMO needs a lot of players, the game must be easy to run and must thus be very optimized.
