Unchained Speed Hound is a fast-paced 2D platformer developed by a team of 4 people in Unreal Engine 5. Unchained Speed Hound is a group exercise in level design and player feel and 3Cs for the Breda University of Applied Sciences Game Design Course. Every student created one level and together we made the character controls and game mechanics.
While working on this project I learned how to quickly prototype and iterate on changes, as well as making a gym and recording values for proper level design, based on the kishotenketsu structure. I also learned how to work in a group using Unreal Engine 5 and the Preforce Version Control system. I ended up designing and implementing the signature lock-on dash feature of the game as well as the speed hound that chases the players very moves (inspired by the mario galaxy clones), alongside creating my own level.
